Returning Player
Andy Harbath
2nd Amateur · dad on the bag
Brown County, WI Returning Player
Second Amateur for Andy — and his dad's back on the bag. Working on the mental game, putting, and finding fairways off the tee.
In their words
Andy on the BCA.
- How many years have you played the Amateur?
- 1 — this will be my 2nd.
- Best finish?
- 13.
- How do you prepare?
- Working on the mental game, putting, and getting off the tee.
- Favorite hole?
- Hole 13 — if you hit the green right, it's fun to watch the ball roll towards the pin.
- Most challenging hole?
- Hole 4 — narrow and long enough that I need to play an iron to keep it safe and hope I have a good putt for par.
- What would winning mean to you?
- It would mean seeing all the work I've put into my game come together — but honestly, the biggest part would be having my dad there as my caddie. Winning with him by my side would be a memory we'd both carry forever.
- Favorite Amateur memory?
- On hole 3 I hit my tee shot next to a tree. My caddie (my dad) and I were going back and forth on whether to drop. I said, “stop, I'm hitting this with my putter backwards.” As a lefty I hit that ball with my putter right-handed and put it within 6 feet of the pin. I looked at my dad and said, “how 'bout that.” We got a good laugh — but don't ask how the putt went.
