Round One · Friday

Maes goes low, and makes an ace

Steven Maes opened with a 69 — three under, the low round of the entire tournament — and did it with a hole-in-one on the par-3 15th. It was the only ace of the championship flight all week.

Conner O'Neil and Nic Hughes each posted 70 to share second, with Owen Nowicki, Gabe Dahl and Riley Ley all tied for fourth at 73. Three players broke par on day one, and the top of the board was already tight enough that nobody had separation.

Round Two · Saturday

O'Neil takes control — Maes gives it back

Saturday was the day the leaderboard turned over. Conner O'Neil backed his 70 with a 71 — the low round of the day — and moved to 141, four clear of the field.

Maes went the other way with a 78, tumbling from first to fifth and turning a one-shot lead into a six-shot deficit. Hughes ground out a 75 to stay second at 145, close enough to matter. Owen Nowicki and Gabe Dahl each backed up a 73 with a second 73 to sit tied for third at 146.

Round Three · Sunday

A 69, a 71, and a tie at even par

Maes answered his 78 with another 69 — out in 32, four under on the front with birdies at the third and the seventh — the biggest single-round swing of the week. Hughes matched the moment with a 71, level through both nines (35-36).

O'Neil's lead survived nine holes and then didn't: a 40 on the front, including a seven on the ninth, wiped out the cushion. He rallied with a 36 on the back to post 217, one shy. Hughes and Maes both signed for 216 — even par for 54 holes — and headed back out.
